The first day of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Workshop opened yesterday with a prayer, the National Anthem of The Bahamas and the CWP Anthem, followed by opening remarks from Hon. Kate Doust MLA (CWP Vice-Chairperson), Senator J. LaShell Adderley (President of the Senate of The Bahamas), and Hon. Speaker Patricia Deveaux (Speaker of The Bahamas House of Assembly).
Participants also received an overview of the programme and completed the pre-workshop survey, marking the official start of four days of focused dialogue and exchange.
The evening concluded with a Welcome Reception hosted by the Governor-General of The Bahamas, offering delegates an opportunity to connect and reflect ahead of the week’s discussions.
