OIC Secretary General Condemns Attacks on Chadian Armed Forces and on Civilians in Niger

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, strongly condemned the heinous attacks by BokoHaram in Niger and Chad, on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March 2019, which killed at least eight civilians in Diffa region in Niger and twenty-three soldiers in southwestern Chad.

Dr. Al-Othaimeen deplored these armed attacks and expressed his deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the families of the victims, to the Governments and peoples of Niger and Chad, and wished Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives.

The OIC Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s full solidarity with the Chadian and Nigerien authorities in their ongoing struggle against terrorism and armed groups on their common border. He called on the international partners to further intensify the support to the Multinational Joint Task Force, around Lake Chad.
