The Secretary-General and Djibouti’s Minister of Culture stress people-to-people diplomacy

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, met the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Djibouti, Mr. Moumen Hassan Berre, on Thursday, 7/2/ 2019, on the sidelines of the first edition of the OIC Festival in Cairo. The two sides stressed the importance of people-to-people diplomacy in promoting the OIC the Muslim Ummah, bringing people closer together and learning about each other’s culture, which is the aim of the OIC festival hosted by the Republic of Egypt. The Minister expressed his country’s readiness to host the festival in future.

The Secretary General thanked the Minister for his country’s support to the OIC and its participation in the festival. He also commended Egypt for hosting the first edition of the festival to be a distinguished start. Al-Othaimeen expressed his deep thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the OIC host country, for its support to all its programs and activities, including the festival.
