The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an expert-level workshop at its headquarters in Jeddah on 7-8 October 2019. The workshop will discuss the creation of the OIC Platform for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Muslim World and consider the possibility of mobilizing resources to support heritage preservation programs and projects.
This workshop is in implementation of the recommendations of the 14th Islamic Summit held in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on 27 May 1440 AH- 31 May 2019, which called the OIC to exert all possible efforts to promote joint cultural work in the field of safeguarding and protecting cultural heritage.
Experts from the OIC Member States, relevant OIC organs, international partners in the field of heritage protection and preservation and relevant international organizations will participate in the workshop.
