United Nations Secretary General has condoled the loss of lives and destructions caused by the devastating fire in Chawkbazar area, Dhaka.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has condoled the loss of lives and destructions caused by the devastating fire in Chawkbazar area of the city and commended the efforts taken by national emergency services responding to the fire and assist those in need.
“I wish to assure you that the United Nations stands in solidarity and support at this critical time,” the UN chief said in a message sent to President Abdul Hamid on Friday.
Guterres expressed his condolences to President Hamid, the government and the people of Bangladesh for the loss of lives and destructions caused by the devastating fire on February 20.
He wished the injured a speedy recovery and commended the efforts undertaken by the national emergency services responding to the fire and assist those in need, according to the message received from Bangladesh Mission to the UN.
Sixty-seven bodies were recovered after a fire broke out in Chawkbazar area that raged through four other adjacent buildings there on Wednesday night.
