As part of its ongoing celebration of ‘Mujib Year’, a second photo exhibition on the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman began on 03 August 2021, Tuesday at Seoul. The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul organized this four-day-long event till 06 August 2021 in partnership with the Youngone Corporation at the cultural space of the Youngone Corporation in Seoul. In presence of the officials of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul and Youngone Corporation, the invited dignitaries and the members of the Bangladesh Community, Ambassador Abida Islam and Chairman of the Youngone Corporation Mr. Sung Ki-hak jointly inaugurated the exhibition by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mentionable, the Embassy organized the 1st photo exhibition on the life and legacy of Bangabandhu at the heart of Seoul in partnership with the Korean Culture Association on 09-13 July 2021 at the THEO Gallery, Gangnam.
In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Abida Islam paid profound tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-the greatest Bangalee of all time. Highlighting the different aspects of Bangabandhu’s political activities and contributions, she said that Bangabandhu’s enormous activities have been well reflected in the photographs displayed at the exhibition. She expressed hope that this photo exhibition, organized in the area close to the Medical College of Seoul National University, Sungkyunkwan University, Hansung University, Korea National University of Arts, and Seoul Women University in Seoul will generate interest among the friendly people of Korea especially the young generation to learn more about Bangabandhu and his vision, ideology and legacy. Ambassador Islam also expressed her sincere gratitude to Chairman Mr. Sung Ki-hak for his kind support in organizing the photo exhibition.
In his speech, Chairman Mr. Sung Ki-hak expressed his delight for the opportunity to become a partner with the Embassy of Bangladesh in organizing the photo exhibition on the life and legacy of Bangabandhu. In his remarks, he also highlighted the impressive socio-economic developments of Bangladesh in recent years. Later on, Ambassador Abida Islam presented a copy of the Korean version of Bangabandhu’s ‘Unfinished Memoirs’ to the Chairman which was unveiled by the Embassy at an event in a local hotel organized on 01 July 2021.
The program was attended by the Korean nationals, members of the civil society, and the expatriate Bangladesh community living in Seoul. The guests were also presented with a copy of the Korean version of ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’. As part of the event, the Korean versions of ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’, ‘BANGABANDHU THE PEOPLE’S HERO’, and the Historic 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu have been displayed along with other publications on Bangabandhu. Moreover, documentaries on the life and works of Bangabandhu will continue to be screened throughout the exhibition. The invitees of the event were then entertained with traditional Bengali cuisine.
The exhibition will continue till 06 August 2021 and it is open for all.
