Dutch Ambassador Joris van Bommel Presents Credentials, Reinforcing Strong Bilateral Ties with Bangladesh.

H.E. Mr. Joris van Bommel, the newly appointed Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh, today presented his credentials to the President of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Shahabuddin, at a ceremony underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations.

Following the formal presentation, President Shahabuddin and Ambassador van Bommel engaged in constructive discussions, reaffirming the excellent relationship and robust cooperation between the Netherlands and Bangladesh. Both leaders highlighted key sectors that form the bedrock of their partnership, including water management, agriculture, the maritime industry, and the vital ready-made garments sector.

The discussions also touched upon the longstanding cooperation in areas such as training and scholarships, and the successful implementation of the Orange Corner program, which actively supports young Bangladeshi entrepreneurs. Furthermore, the commitment to promoting democracy and human rights, and strengthening civil society, was reiterated.

President Shahabuddin acknowledged Bangladesh’s substantial efforts in hosting over a million Rohingya refugees, with Ambassador van Bommel recognizing and conveying the Netherlands’ continued support in this humanitarian endeavor. The meeting also explored avenues to further strengthen the trade relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador van Bommel conveyed the sincere good wishes for Bangladesh from His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, emphasizing the strong bonds of friendship between the two nations
