Pakistan’s Ambassador to Portugal met with the leadership of Lagos, including the Mayor, and highlighted opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Portugal, Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz, visited Lagos, where he met with Mayor Hugo Pereira, President of the Municipal Council, Maria Joaquina Matos, and the entire team of councilors. The meeting marked a significant step towards fostering closer ties between Pakistan and the southern Portuguese municipality.

Mayor Pereira extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Ejaz and acknowledged the presence of 67 Pakistani residents in the municipality. He praised their positive contribution to the social and economic fabric of Lagos, the Algarve region, and the broader south of Portugal. The Mayor further expressed the city’s appreciation for its growing diversity and reaffirmed Lagos’s commitment to inclusive community development.

Ambassador Ejaz, in turn, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and inclusive vision of the city’s leadership. He highlighted the potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Lagos in several key areas, including culture, tourism, education, and youth engagement. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships with Portuguese municipalities.

Both sides expressed optimism for future cooperation and shared initiatives that celebrate cultural exchange and inclusive growth.
