As the people of Afghanistan goes to the polls on 28 September 2019, Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation reiterated his hope that the elections will take place in a peaceful atmosphere. He stressed the significance of the elections in this critical juncture for Afghanistan as an important step in its democratic journey which would contribute to peace and reconciliation.
The Secretary General urged all Afghans to refrain from violence in order to ensure the conditions of success for the elections.
