UN in Bangladesh organizes a Mobile Photography Contest and panel discussion.

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, the UN in Bangladesh organized a Mobile Photography Contest which had been ended with a panel discussion followed by the award giving ceremony on 22 May. The concluding event was arranged in cooperation with Dept of Women of Gender Studies, University of Dhaka.

In the panel discussion- Chief Guest, the Hon’ble Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury (Nowfel), MP and special guest Ms Mia Seppo, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh shared their views on innovation for equality and change while panelist Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dhaka focused on gender and research issues.

Ms Sabina Yesmin, Staff Photographer, Daily Prothom Alo and Mr Nurul Islam Hasib, General Secretary, Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) focused on the challenges and opportunities of women in media sectors.

The photo contest winners were awarded with prizes and certificates. The top 20 contestants, students of University Dhaka, youth groups, volunteer organization and clubs of different university took part in the programme and Q/A session. The event was organized by UN in Bangladesh with the support  of UN Women, UNFPA, UNV and UNIC. The event was moderated by Mr Md Aktar Uddin, National Programme Analyst, UNV Bangladesh.
