Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin observes the 43rd death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day-2018.

Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin observed the 43rd death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day-2018 today at the Embassy premise with due solemnity and fervor. The programme started with the ceremonial halfmasting of the national flag by H.E. the Ambassador Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed in presence of Embassy officials, students and group of NRB from Germany and Czech Republic who gathered to observe the occasion.

Later Ambassador along with the distinguished presence placed a flower bouquet at the portrait of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and visited the “Exhibition of books on the life of Bangabandhu and the great War of Liberation of Bangladesh”.

The second part of the programme commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. An expat Bangladeshi from the Buddhist community also recited Scripture from the Holy Tripitaka. Thereafter, one minute of silence was observed in honour of departed souls of the Father of the Nation and his martyred family members. Messages of the Hon’ble President, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Foreign Minister and the Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by the Embassy officials. Then a video prepared by the Embassy on the life sketch of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tilted-“A Tribute to Bangabandhu” was screened before the audience.

Eminent expatriate Bangladeshis then took part in the discussion session in length on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the importance of fulfilling his dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’. The Ambassador wrapped up the programme with his speech. In his speech, he stressed on the significance of this day and urged all to convert this national grief into strength, resolution to work together for the greater future achievements of Bangladesh. The programme was ended by offering a munajat and doa on the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members. Lastly, all participants of the programme were entertained with lunch.
