High Commission of India, Dhaka commenced a Cycle Rally at the University of Dhaka on 15 June 2019, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. High Commissioner Smt. Riva Ganguly Das and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman were present at the event.
This year the Government of India is conducting celebrations across the world in a befitting manner in memory of Mahatma Gandhi and this cycling event is part of the celebrations. Members of Dhaka University Cycling Club took part in the event. High Commissioner Smt. Riva Ganguly Das and Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed the audience.
In her speech Smt. Riva Ganguly Das said, “We are living in a time when the messages and ideas of Mahatma Gandhi are more relevant than that of the time in which he lived. Even now, his life and messages inspire millions across the world. ”
The High Commissioner urged all youngsters gathered there to carry forward the messages of Mahatma Gandhi.
