The government of Singapore stands ready to strengthen relationship with the new government of Bangladesh

The Consul of Singapore in Bangladesh William Chik made his introductory call on Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, M.P. in latter’s office in Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning.

The Consul of Singapore in Bangladesh congratulated Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen on behalf of his government and foreign minister of Singapore. He reaffirmed the government of Singapore stands ready to further strengthen relationship with the new government of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Foreign Minister praised Singapore and its dynamic people for the tremendous economic success. Mentioning existing bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and Singapore, Dr. Momen  also requested  him to take initiatives for reducing existing large bilateral trade deficits. The Consul of Singapore in Bangladesh assured to convey this message to his government for appropriate actions in this regard.

Foreign Minister emphasized boosting volume of skilled manpower export to Singapore from Bangladesh. With reference to the Rohingya crisis the Foreign Minister thanked Singapore for standing beside Bangladesh with humanitarian assistance and also urged for the continued cooperation of Singapore to resolve this crisis.

Foreign Minister also mentioned that the government of Bangladesh is now working to realize the vision of “Golden Bangla” and sought support of Singapore in Bangladesh’s development strides.
