Japan Provides Grant Aid for Improvement of Fish Landing Center in Cox’s Bazar

H.E. Mr. IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, and Mr. Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance signed the Exchange of Notes on the Japanese Grant aid titled “The Project for the Improvement of Fish Landing Center of Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation in Cox’s Bazar District” (up to JPY 2,294 million, about USD 15 million).

Based on this agreement between the two counties, Mr. ICHIGUCHI Tomohide, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office, and Mr. Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky signed a relevant Grant Agreement.

In this project, facilities and equipment that have suffered from the progress of riverbank erosion will improve.

“I’m sure that this project will not only contribute to the Blue Economy, which aims to achieve sustainable economic growth by utilizing marine resources, but also support the Local Economy of host communities who are suffering from difficulties caused by the influx of Rohingya refugees,” said Ambassador IWAMA.
