With the onset of the tax season, many people turn to their lawyers to files their tax papers. Very few people do their own taxes, whereas many do not understand the terminologies or where to begin when it comes to filing taxes. To address this situation, two chapter of Junior Chamber International ( JCI) Dhaka United and Dhaka Young, in collaboration, conducted a workshop on ‘Introduction on Tax Laws in Bangladesh.
The guest speakers included, Mr.Sazid Khan, Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Mr. IkbalHasan, Barrister at Law, Senior Associate, Liberty Chambers and Lecturer, North South University.
Barrister Hasan had explained many of the terms and laws of taxes in Bangladesh. Mr. Khan had applied the theory into practical use by having the participants in the workshop fill out a tax form. Many questions regarding taxes were answered from the audience in the end of the session.
The event was moderated by Shaheen Ismail Mona, JCI Dhaka Young Local President and Khadiza Akhter, JCI Dhaka United Local President. JCI National President, Irfan Islam; Immediate Past President, FayazAtiqul Islam; National Secretary General, ErfanHaque; National Vice President, Salehin F.Nahiyan; Bangladesh Development Council Chairperson, Abu Taleb Siddique were also present in the event.
