Tanzania would offer contract farming opportunities to Bangladesh entrepreneurs: Suleiman Masoud Makame, Minister for Blue Economy & Fisheries of the Republic of Tanzania.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen had a sideline meeting with the Minister for Blue Economy & Fisheries of the Republic of Tanzania Mr. Suleiman Masoud Makame,  during the IORA conference in Dhaka.

Foreign Minister Dr. Momen stated that Bangladesh has attained remarkable achievements in agriculture including fisheries, health, and other socio-economic areas. Dr. Momen proposed that Bangladesh and Tanzania may work together to achieve food security. He suggested that both countries may sign an MoU on the blue economy.

Tanzanian Minister for Blue Economy & Fisheries informed that the Tanzanian government would like to establish cooperation in the blue economy area by signing the agreement. He also said that Tanzania would offer contract farming opportunities to Bangladesh entrepreneurs. He mentioned that Tanzania is particularly interested in aquaculture and deep-sea fisheries areas.

Foreign Minister Dr. Momen mentioned that Bangladesh has excellence in the production of pharmaceuticals. Tanzanian Minister welcomed Bangladeshi entrepreneurs in the pharmaceuticals sector in Tanzania. He proposed that Bangladesh can share the ecotourism experience of  Tanzania.

Foreign Minister also invited Tanzanian entrepreneurs to invest in our economic zones. He suggested that there may also be cooperation in the IT sector. He sought the support of the Tanzanian government in the Rohingya issue as well as in different elections where Bangladesh would have candidature.

Mr. Momen thanked Minister for Blue Economy & Fisheries of the Republic of Tanzania for joining the Council of Ministers’ meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
