President of Women Political Leaders (WPL) Ms. Silvana Koch-Mehrin called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 16 February 2024 at her hotel suite in Munich. At the meeting, the WPL President congratulated the Prime Minister on her re-election and highly appreciated the political empowerment of women in Bangladesh achieved over the last one and a half decades. She invited the Prime Minister to receive the WPL’s Trailblazer Award 2023 conferred on her for outstanding contributions to women’s political empowerment, during the upcoming WPL Summit to be held on 20 March 2024 in Athens.
The Prime Minister shared her government’s policy priorities and action programs for women empowerment, particularly political and economic empowerment of women. The WPL President viewed that the Western world should learn from the Prime Minister’s policy interventions and achievements in the political empowerment of women.
